Dying with a Will

    Home Dying with a Will

When someone dies there are immediate steps that will need to be taken:

    • Registration of the death
    • Checking whether the individual has expressed any wishes regarding their funeral arrangements
    • Arranging the funeral

We can help guide you through what is a difficult process for many people.

If someone has died leaving a Will, the Executors appointed by the Will need to carry out the following:

    • collect details of the deceased’s assets and liabilities
    • obtain values for the assets
    • carry out the terms of the Will including distributing the estate in accordance with those terms
    • apply to the Probate Registry for a Grant of Probate of the Will
    • administer the estate and pay any inheritance tax

If you are an executor we can advise you on your role and responsibilities and assist you with the administration of the estate. In many cases clients choose to appoint us as their executors. This can be in conjunction with a family member or family friend.
